Shelby and Kory at the Oxford Exchange, Tampa

Shelby and Kory's wedding is obviously my most special wedding because she's my daughter. These two were high school friends turned college sweethearts. After years of dating, we were so excited to start planning this wedding. I knew as soon as Oxford Exchange opened that we would be having the wedding there. It was exactly what we were looking for. A unique venue with rich colors and textures and a combination of old and new.

We loved the idea of having the wedding ceremony and reception at the same location. I find that guests really like this option as well. The guests ascended the floral lined staircase to the ceremony space. The staircase was a splurge but it was such a focal point for the entire evening it was worth it. It served not only as the entryway to the ceremony but as the back drop for announcing the couple into the reception, the speeches of the evening, the first dance, dessert table and dance floor.

Burgundy, gold and navy blue were the colors Shelby chose and we used geometric shapes collected from everywhere to blend a modern touch with the vintage vibe of OE. The florist incorporated the shapes into all the table arrangements. Each one was a little piece of art. For a cohesive feel we used the geometric shapes in the wedding programs, menus, place cards etc.

The bridesmaids wore burgundy satin dresses to match the rich colors of the OE interior. The light reflected beautifully off of the fabric. The groom and groomsmen wore navy blue suits and burgundy ties. Kory picked out fun socks for his groomsmen that matched their personalities or hobbies.

Kory and Shelby selected a duck breast and filet combination for dinner with risotto, carrots and a fall salad. Chef Rachel customized the selections to give them the fall flavors they were looking for and Chocolate Pi created a dessert table and wedding cake consistent with the fall tones and flavors.

After literally not leaving the dance floor all night they departed with a fun balloon drop send off. Sunday they greeted guests at Ulele for brunch and said their goodbyes as they prepared to leave for their honeymoon in Maui.

The year of planning Shelby and Kory's wedding was truly the most fun I've ever had. I strive to bring that same experience to each of my clients. I want them to look back on their year of planning with the same fond memories we have.
