Dark and Moody Wedding

After looking at a few venues that came up short, Sarah and Trevor came to us for help. Sarah was looking for an industrial space and Trevor wanted an outdoor ceremomy. I was following White Rock Canyon's construction progress on Instagram and even though it was not complete yet, I thought it might be exactly what they were looking for and I was right! Sarah and Trevor were one of the first couples to book.

What do wedding planners do? Everything from picking venues to driving dad over to the first look location. While we sat in the car talking about family and about the last year of wedding planning Sarah’s told me he wasn't going to cry. I laughed and said yes you will. When I joined the two after their private moment, both of them were crying. I highly suggest a first look with dad but make sure he has tissues.

Sarah wanted a dark and moody romantic vibe for their December 2022 wedding. We landed on a color palette of deep burgundy, blush, black and gold. She has a love of florals like me so flowers were definitely a focus for us when working on our budget and the overall design. The ceremony was held on a private penisula surrounded by a spring fed lake overlooked by limestone cliffs covered in winter grasses. The asymmetric ceremony piece was lush with florals and greenery and doubled as their sweetheeart table backdrop. And can we talk about Trevor's velvet jacket? This was a last minute decision on his part and it it was an excellent choice. This is now my favorite groom ensemble.

For the reception we used a mixture of tall and low centerpieces in gold vessels. We added gold flatware and charger plates to coordinate. To add interest to the design we used both black linen covered tables and wooden farm tables. I'm not a fan of "matchy matchy". I love how the gold and crystal mixes with the warm wood tones of the farm tables. Black taper candles pair with the black dinner plates and add drama. I like to add a little black to any color palette even pastels. It makes everything pop and look more sophiticated and modern.

Of all the weddings we have planned and been present at, this wedding party was the most creative and provided an epic performance for guests during their introductions. Each couple selected their own music and prepared a short skit complete with costumes. Here are some photos I'm sure Sarah and Trevor will enjoy for a lifetime.

After dinner, dancing, dessert and a late night taco station, Sarah and Trevor ended their evening with a sparkler exit. I had such a fun year getting to know Sarah's parents and in-laws, it was a little sad to see it end but they will all forever be a part of our EventFull Weddings family and we are so grateful they trusted us with their big day.
